Currently in the field of close-range photogrammetry (CRP) we can see a large use increase in a number of sectors. CRP is suitable alternative to terrestrial laser scanning. The latest developments of algorithms for image processing and also in computer technology leads to quality and accuracy improvement of dense point clouds from CRP.
Research in forestry is no exception and we witness the first studies that are beginning to address the use of CRP for forestry purposes. The objective of the proposed project is to initialize an international research team, which will be focused on basic research in the field of CRP and its applications in forestry. The international and multidisciplinary cooperation will focus on sharing knowledge and experience, the development and testing of prototype devices, verification of data collection procedures in forest environment, derivation and processing of point clouds, establishing benchmarking for an objective evaluation of the procedures and methods of CRP used by applicants.
The main outcomes of the project are:
- a scientific publication(s),
- an active participation at international scientific conference,
- a draft of a following project proposal.
