RETROCHANGE has two closely connected objective lines. As a subgrant supported through EOSC Gravity, the project contributes to the wider development of the European Open Science Cloud by preparing practical use cases for the emerging EOSC SK environment. At the same time, RETROCHANGE develops its own scientific use cases focused on historical remote sensing, forestry, geoinformatics and long-term forest and landscape change analysis. The project aims to demonstrate how domain-specific research data, methods and workflows can be documented, structured and prepared for reuse in an EOSC-oriented environment. RETROCHANGE therefore connects the strategic objectives of EOSC Gravity with concrete practical examples from geospatial research and environmental monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. RETROCHANGE will contribute to the development of EOSC SK by preparing use cases that show how forestry, remote sensing and geoinformatics data can be described, organised and presented as reusable research outputs. These use cases will help demonstrate how Slovak research institutions can contribute data, expertise and workflows to the wider EOSC ecosystem.
2. Transform historical geospatial data into reusable evidence<\/strong>
The project focuses on historical remote sensing archives and related geospatial datasets. RETROCHANGE aims to explore how these materials can be processed, georeferenced, documented and integrated with modern spatial data to support long-term forest and landscape change analysis.
3. Develop FAIR-oriented data and workflow examples<\/strong>
RETROCHANGE will prepare practical examples of how selected geospatial datasets and analytical workflows can be made more Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable. This includes documentation preparation, description of data, and clear explanation of reuse conditions.
4. Demonstrate geospatial workflows for environmental monitoring<\/strong>
The project will develop and describe workflows for using historical and modern spatial data in forest and landscape monitoring. These workflows may include comparison with modern orthophotos, spatial analysis and visual interpretation of long-term change.
5. Prepare communication and knowledge-transfer outputs<\/strong>
RETROCHANGE will produce web-based materials, visual examples and project outputs that communicate the value of historical geospatial data for research, education and environmental decision-making. The project website will serve as the main public entry point for presenting objectives, use cases, outputs and project progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\nExpected results<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
